What is your favorite part of being a camp counselor?
“My favorite part of being a counselor is definitely watching all the campers have their first flight. It’s incredible to see how just 20 minutes in the air can make someone so happy.”
What is the hardest part?
“The hardest part is leaving at the end. Since so many campers come from many different places it's hard to see each other apart from at camp. It’s hard to say goodbye to everyone after you have bonded so well.”
What is your most memorable camp moment?
“My favorite part this year was definitely all of the game nights we had. It was so rainy and stormy that we were often stuck inside. Luckily, we had an incredible group and everyone joined in the nightly games of Monopoly or Jenga. This was my favorite part because we could all get to know each other while also having a good laugh.”
What is your most memorable flight of the season?
“My most memorable flight this year was definitely when Tom took me to do spins! It was so much fun, I love doing exciting things like that and it was incredible. Although it was crazy at first and I had no idea what to expect, it was still amazing and I would love to do it again!”
Unfortunately, the weather really impacted your flying this season. You were extremely close to soloing but ran out of time at the end. How did you keep such a positive attitude?
“For me, flying isn’t just about achieving the end goals, such as soloing or passing the tests. It's more about the experience and fun of it. Although I am a little disappointed I didn’t solo, I can look back at the season and just be proud of all of the little things I accomplished. Plus it was a super fun year and I just love flying.”
You have a lot going on with school, sports, etc. yet you carve out time to spend at the airport. Why? What does the airport mean to you?
“The airport is my happy place, and the people are like my family. I make as much time as possible because it is such an important place to me. Although flying is amazing and so fun, it's not the main reason I go. I go for the connections and people there. Whenever I am just hanging out, I always meet some interesting characters and it is so fun to learn about other people who share similar interests.”
