Scholarships
We help you soar!
FEFY provides scholarships for youth ages 13-18 to Sugarbush Soaring’s (SSA) Overnight Youth Soaring Camps in beautiful Warren, Vermont.
SSA has been running these unique and popular camps for over a decade.
They are a fantastic opportunity for youth who are passionate about aviation and want to improve their flying skills.
Successful candidates must have a strong interest in aviation and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). No prior flight experience is needed.
In 2024, FEFY has awarded four full scholarships (valued at $3,700 apiece) and two partial scholarships, totaling $18,400.
In 2022 and 2023, we provided more than $24,000 in scholarships.
One of the scholarships is the Luke Hammer Memorial Scholarship, which is for Vermont residents.

Luke Hammer was the recipient of the 2011 YSC scholarship. He enjoyed the soaring camp so much that he joined the SSA Line Crew. He excelled at flying and served as Line Crew Chief from 2012-2014. Luke passed away unexpectedly in 2014. Luke’s family and friends created this scholarship to honor Luke’s life and open up similar opportunities for Vermont youth.
We are looking for a diverse group of applicants with a strong passion for aviation, a willingness to learn and a sense of adventure, who would not otherwise have access to an opportunity like this.
No prior flight experience is necessary.
Stay tuned for this year’s YSC application period.
What happens at Youth Soaring Camps?
One of our youth campers, Adam Valpey, shot some videos during one of our 2022 youth soaring summer camps. This is just a small sample of what happens at Sugarbush Soaring's Youth Soaring Camps.
